I love that time twixt sleep and wake No muscle weary weight to bear Conversations with the here and now And with the gone as if somehow Its all permitted time stand still Surreal though not unlikely scenes From past occasions in our dreams The ones we’ve lost are present still And make us smile in our repose To stay so restful on we doze

Life’s sum total past and now as if Its all allowed somehow The ones we have and those we lost All now together all the time I love the time twixt sleep and wake It’s clear this is our worldly lot Those we have Those not forgot We carry with us every hour The sum total of every second Ever spent with those we love And loved though gone from present

Are always there twixt sleep and wake I thank whoever is around That love and peace is what i found

Then noise or thought snaps us awake Gone are those who we just were with Into the present chilly morn And if we’re lucky in our home

A lucky man let it be said To wake again in ones own bed He loved that time twixt sleep and wake TJB Sept 2023
