Blackness of your Eyes

Published: 1 February 2012

I looked into the blackness of your eyes I see that underneath are only lies The coldness of your gaze Coming at me through the haze Will you ever be the one you were before

Its time for me to go No need for me to stay I think its time I left I am bereft

I watch as you walk yourself to sleep In a waking slumber infinitely deep You’re in there now I think But I only smell the drink Will you ever be the one you were before

Emptiness and platitudes persist Self-pity and waste co-exist But it all fails and leaves a trail Of broken dreams and hatred in the mist Will you ever be the one you were before

Sleepwalking is not a clever sport Keep alert is what we all are taught To run full speed into the shit Will surely catch you up a bit Will you ever be the one you were before
